A House In The Trees: Part VI

Continuing with the treehouse build, this first video details the installation of the main beams on the tree.

I once I had the beams glued together (each is 2 2”x8:x16’ ACQ boards glued together) I brought them out to the back yard and marked where the trees and mounting brackets went. Then I installed ⅜” carriage bolts through both boards to reinforce the glue joints. Finally I installed the spacer blocks and clips to attach the boards to the trees. The video is a little wavy. That’s YouTube, trying to stabilize my very wobbly video.
In this second video start with the installation of the joists which will ultimately support the tree house deck.

  1. Wow, I have never seen anyone laminate a beam with lag bolts. You know that nails would work just fine right?

    1. Nails have a tendency to back out over time, and the lag bolts have the ability to pull the boards together as they're assembled. With lock washers installed under each nut, I'm not at all concerned with the bolts coming loose.
